FROM THE PULPIT
From the Pulpit is written by biblical scholars and provides context around a Gospel’s meaning. Through explanation of how the ancient text tells the story of God’s Good News, From the Pulpit contextualizes the divine Word in ways that Believers can make it their own.
FROM THE PEW
From the Pew is written by laity and provides a believer’s perspective on how the Gospels remain meaningful to us today. Lay contributors may share personal experiences on how God’s Word in the Gospels speaks to us on a personal level.
Details for Hearing the Word writers:
- The weekly e-newsletter commentaries will run throughout the liturgical years (C, B, A) beginning December 1, 2024.
- Commentaries focus only on the Gospel reading each week.
- Writers will select their Sunday dates for commentary using the date selection form (accessible at the bottom of this page).
- There is no minimum (or maximum!) number of commentaries required. Writers determine how often they wish to contribute.
- The required length of commentaries is 250-300 words.
- Commentaries are to be submitted to preaching@scs.edu by the indicated due dates (3 weeks prior to the commentary’s liturgical date).
- Writers will receive $100 for each commentary accepted for publication.
